The name "Nakomis" means "the daughter of the moon". Though her real name is Jennifer, she requested to go by the name "Nakomis", a name she claimed she got when she was fifteen. This is the first season to have the winner beat the runner-up by only a single vote.Jennifer Jeannene "Nakomis" Dedmon (born April 25, 1983, in Houston, Texas) was a restaurant waitress from San Antonio, Texas. This is the first season where there was an eviction where nobody voted to evict. It is also the first season where two females won the POV twice ( Diane and Adria).
This would happen again in Big Brother 6, Big Brother All-Stars and Big Brother 8.
This is the first season where females won more PoV's than males. For this specific season, this occurred weeks 4 through 7. This would happen again in Big Brother 8, Big Brother 10, Big Brother 13, Big Brother 17, Big Brother: Over The Topand Big Brother 20. This is the first season where females won 4 HOHs in a row. This is the first season a male evictee received 10 votes. This is the first season a male was evicted first. Nakomis came up with this strategy, labeling it the "six finger plan". This season gave birth to the backdoor plan which would become a classic, mandatory strategy used in all of the seasons since. This is the only season represented in season 7 to not have at least one of its representatives reach the Jury stage. This season, Big Brother 8, Big Brother 13, Big Brother 17, and Big Brother: Over The Top are the only seasons to feature family members playing against each other ( Michael and Nakomis, Adria and Natalie, Dick and Daniele, Liz and Julia, Alex and Morgan). This was the first season to feature the Fast Forward week, which would become a recurring event in later seasons. This was the first season where only six players were allowed to compete in Veto competitions. This was the first season to feature the Golden Power of Veto as a permanent element in the game. Natalie switched and played as Adria for the first 4 Weeks before becoming an official Houseguest on Week 5. This version of the Double Eviction was carried out through the next two seasons. Double Eviction Week: On week 9, for the first time in Big Brother (US) history, two houseguests would be evicted within one week. In fact, Michael cast the sole vote to evict Nakomis, but she ended up voting for him to win the grand prize. Their fellow house guests knew this as well, but did not break up the possible duo. Unknown Relatives: Nakomis & Michael: Nakomis Dedmon and Michael Ellis did not know that they were biological siblings until they talked and figured out they were related. They were not discovered, so Natalie was let into the house as a permanent player in Week 5. In fact, Adria and her identical twin Natalie Carroll would switch places in the diary room from time to time during the first four weeks. Twin Twist: Adria & Natalie: Although the houseguests were informed that some of their fellow houseguests had identical twins, they were not informed that Adria Klein had a twin. Project DNA: Do Not Assume: There were two sets of relatives that may or may not know are playing together. Only Six Power of Veto Players: Unlike in previous seasons where all Houseguests competed in the Veto Competition, only six players would be allowed to compete The Head of Household, the two nominees, and three players selected by each of them respectively.
